April 16- Middle School

What we’re learning this week:

During a moment where his disciples felt lost, worried, and fearful of what was going to happen to them once He left them, Jesus tells His disciples that He is the way, the truth, and the life. These are important identifiers for us today because we often enter different seasons of life where we are searching for the way to go, a truth to hold on to, or fulfillment in life. Middle School students will be challenged to remember who Jesus says he is when these moments happen!

Bottom Line: Everything you will look for is found in Jesus.

Scripture: John 14:5-9

Small Group Time:

In the landing of the teaching tonight, we are having students choose one statement that they resonate with and then assigning them a unique challenge based on the statement they connect with. For small group time, consider “teaming up” and landing on one of those three challenges to do as a group this week!

  1. When we were asked to choose one of the statements we resonated with at the end of the teaching tonight, which one stuck out to you most and why?

    1. I don’t know what to do (commit to prayer)

    2. I don’t know what to believe (commit to learning)

    3. I feel empty (commit to upgrading)

  2. I think we would have a better chance of following through on the challenge for this week if we all chose the same one! Which one do we all want to try to do together?

    1. Praying for decisions we need to make or for wisdom regularly

    2. Reading through the book of John 20 min a day

    3. Changing our habits from scrolling, gaming, netflix to spending time with God?

  3. What other things do people tend to go to for their identity besides Jesus?

  4. What do you think the disciples were thinking when Jesus told them that he was leaving them?

  5. Pair up and pray for each other to end your time together!

Next week preview:

Jesus is the light of the world! Next week, we will look at two reasons people rejected Jesus’ light in the Gospels and take an honest look on if we are truly embracing the light that Jesus brings.
