The meeting time for Lifeline is unique this week.
Join us from 5:00-6:30pm this Sunday!

What we’re doing this week:

Is Christianity a relationship? Or a religion? Or both? Or neither? As we continue this series about journeying with God each day, we will discuss the differences between relationship and religion and why it’s wise to recognize the value of both. The reality is, the God of the Bible offers us relationships where there are clearly defined ways He has asked His people to live.

Bottom Line: Your religion might need more relationship. Your relationship might need more religion.

Scripture: James 1:26-27, Ephesians 4:11-15, Matthew 23:23-24

Dinner Night Discussion:

Tonight is a discussion night: we will be discussing the teaching as we unpack God’s Word. Here are the questions we will dive into.

  • How would you describe Christianity to someone who had never heard of it?

  • Read James 1:26-27, Matthew 23:23-24, Ephesians 4:11-15 and answer the questions…

    • What do you notice in each of these verses as it relates to the words “religion” and “relationship”?

    • Take one side of your poster board (vertically) and write “religion” on one half and “relationship” on the other half…

    • In what ways could the idea of “Christianity is solely a religion” become destructive or damaging to one’s walk with God? Add them on the list

    • In what ways could the idea of “Christianity is solely a relationship” become destructive or damaging to one’s walk with God? Add them on the list

  • Over dessert, take your poster board at your table and make a religion / relationship list. Put religion/relationship on the top of the board and jot down the good elements of each of those words.
