March 25

What we’re learning this week:

Being young can sometimes make you feel like you have to wait until later in life to really matter, but the Bible teaches something different. In 1 Timothy 4:12, Paul reminds the young leader, Timothy, not to let others look down on him because of his age, but to set an example in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity. Our ability to make a difference doesn’t come from believing in ourselves, but from belonging to Jesus and being shaped by Him.

Bottom Line: Be an example for others
Scripture:
1 Timothy 4:12

Small Group Time:

  • Have you ever felt like someone didn’t take you seriously because you were younger? How did that make you feel?

  • In 1 Timothy 4:12, what are the five areas Paul says Timothy should set an example in?

    • Which one feels easiest for you right now? Which feels hardest?

  • Why do you think it’s important that making a difference starts with belonging to Jesus rather than just believing in yourself?

  • Think about your normal week (school, sports, friends, home). Where do you think God might be inviting you to set an example?
