What we’re learning this week:
In Luke 5:1-11, Jesus meets Peter, James, and John right in the middle of their everyday jobs as fishermen. After a long, empty night of work, Jesus tells Peter to cast his nets again, and the catch is so large it nearly sinks two boats. Peter responds not with pride but with awe, and Jesus invites him into a completely different life: “from now on you will fish for people.” The fishermen leave everything behind and follow Jesus. This teaching walks middle schoolers through how Jesus enters our everyday world, reveals who He is, and invites us on a journey. Showing us that following Him doesn't require having it all figured out, just saying yes to the next thing He's asking of us.
Bottom Line: Your life of a thousand yeses start with one.

Tonight's teaching was about Jesus showing up in the ordinary, everyday moments of Peter's life and inviting him to say yes to one simple next step. Use this time to help students see that Jesus meets them in their own “ordinary” (school, sports, home, etc.) and is asking them for their next yes too. Discuss 1-3 questions and end by sharing prayer requests and praying together
In the story, Jesus does a miracle to show Peter who He really is. What's one thing you know to be true about God, even when you can't “see” Him working?
Our world tells us to have everything figured out before we commit to something. How is Jesus' invitation to Peter (just say yes to the next thing) different from that message?
Peter didn't follow Jesus alone; remember James and John were with him. Who in your life helps you say yes to following Jesus?
Jesus wasn't asking Peter to say yes to everything all at once, just the next thing. What is one “next yes” Jesus might be asking of you this week (praying, being honest with your parents, forgiving someone, etc.)?
