What we’re learning this week:

Tonight we will kick off a new year of Lifeline by teaching from on Jesus' parable of the ten minas. In the story, a king entrusts money to his servants before leaving, and their differing responses reveal what it looks like to truly take ownership of what we've been given. We will land with three steps for owning our faith: Receive it, Use it, and Remember Jesus.

Bottom Line: Taking ownership of your faith means putting it into practice — receive it, use it, and remember Jesus.
Scripture: Luke 19:11-27

Small Group Discussion:

It’s the first week back at Lifeline! We recognize that a lot of your time in small group may be making introductions, catching up, or just getting back into the swing of things. Remember that these early weeks of small group time sets the tone for the rest of the year!  It's easy to treat faith like something that belongs to our parents or church instead of something personal. Why do you think that we treat faith so casually sometimes? Discuss 1-3 questions, then end with prayer requests and prayer.

  1. The first two servants used what they were given and it multiplied. How can our small group help each other actually practice our faith instead of just talking about it?

  2. Of the three steps [receive it, use it, remember Jesus] which one is hardest for you right now, and why?

  3. What's one specific way you can "use" your faith this week — through reading Scripture, praying, serving, or sharing?

  4. What's one specific way you can "use" your faith this week — through reading Scripture, praying, serving, or sharing?
