October 4 - Middle School

What we’re learning this week:

The Bible is a big book and can feel challenging to understand, but did you know it tells one story? During this series, we will look at each major scene of the story and, use the animal that represents that scene as a visual to show our students that they can understand the story of God!

As we work through the New Testament and read about the early Jesus followers, we are going to learn about some of the tensions between the Jewish Jesus followers and the Gentiles who were interested in following Jesus. Through a vision about unclean animals, God confronts Peter’s favoritism and tells him to welcome Cornelius (a Gentile) into the family of God. As we walk through the story, some students will be challenged to invite people into God’s family, while others will be reminded that if they have felt counted out by others, God still welcomes them to Himself!

Bottom Line: Don’t count out who God has invited in.

Scripture: Acts 10:9-31

Things to know:

  • We believe that gathering together to worship God, enjoy community, and open His Word is time well spent; this is where we can encounter God and grow closer to Him. To help our students be fully present with God and each other, phones and devices are no longer allowed at Middle School Lifeline. We ask students to leave their phones and devices in the car or at home so they can be fully present on Wednesday nights.

What if there is a family emergency and we need to contact our child at Lifeline? If there is a family emergency during Lifeline, contact the campus staff and we will be sure to work with you on connecting with your child. Staff contact numbers are posted at our front doors.

What if there is an emergency at Lifeline and our child needs to reach us?
Staff members have access to parent phone numbers and we will be sure to reach out to parents if there's an emergency.

How will my child know where to meet after Lifeline is over?
We encourage you to let your child know where you will be waiting in the parking lot when you drop them off so they know where to go when the night is over.

What if my child uses the Bible on his or her device?
We are encouraging all students and leaders to bring their physical Bibles to Lifeline this year so that they can grow in the habit of opening and learning how to find passages in their physical copy. We will also have additional Bibles at each campus available for students who forget to bring one.

  • We have launched a new Grow resource page to help students take practical next steps in areas of their faith. Some are more devotional in nature while others are meant to be a bit more information to help grow their understanding. A student can walk through these alone or it could be something you go through with them. The current topics we have are all available here on our Grow page.
