October 8 - High School

What we’re learning this week:

Tonight is One on one night, which is an opportunity for HS students to have a quick one on one conversation with their small group leader. This will help the small group leader hear about how they are doing, where they are at in life and in faith, and how we as a ministry can help them grow! While leaders are meeting with their students, the other students will have an opportunity to connect with other HS students before/after their one on one time.

The teaching for one on one night will be a short one! When Paul was writing to the people of Thessalonica, he recounted how he led them in their faith: Not just by sharing the message of Jesus, but also by sharing his life. While our students' relationship with their leader is for them to get to know Jesus more clearly, they will get more out of the relationship if they share their life with the one who is there to help them!

Bottom Line: Your leader is here to share life with you.

Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 2:8

Things to know:

  • We are so thankful for our volunteers who help us serve our 6th-12th grade students! Each week, our leaders arrive an hour before students to learn together about how to better lead their small groups. During this time, they share a meal together (usually just pizza--not the most exciting meal), learn something new, and build community.
As a way to say "thank you" to them for pouring into our students, we would like to provide some variety to their meals a few times throughout the year. Below are links, by campus, to sign up to bring part of a meal to the Lifeline volunteers at your campus.

  • We are encouraging our students to bring a physical bible to Lifeline this year! We’re going to be more intentional about opening it up and reading for ourselves as we walk through a teaching. If you our your student need assistance getting a bible, don’t hesitate to talk with our staff!

  • We have launched a new Grow resource page to help students take practical next steps in areas of their faith. Some are more devotional in nature while others are meant to be a bit more information to help grow their understanding. A student can walk through these alone or it could be something you go through with them. The current topics we have are all available here on our Grow page.
