December 11 - Middle School

What we’re learning this week:

The Countdown to Christmas is ON and we are excited to focus our hearts on the arrival of Jesus during this season. This series will focus on the image of light that is not only captured in the prophecies and stories of the birth of Jesus, but is also a key theme throughout Scripture. This week there is a student teaching at each campus about how the light of Jesus outshines the darkness that we find ourselves navigating in our lives. The students have worked thoughtfully and prayerfully to bring this important message to their Lifeline peers!

Bottom Line: There is no darkness that Jesus can’t light up.
Scripture:  Isaiah 9:2,6 and John 1:5

Small Group Time:

Small group time is your time to lead! Your students are coming from a variety of backgrounds and will need your leadership to guide them towards practical application of tonight’s conversation! If something isn’t really generating conversation, move on, adjust, and try to get to a point where the conversation intersects with their life today!

  1. Which parts of your life feel “dark” right now? Was there anything you were thinking about throughout the teaching?

  2. What did you write down during the practice? How have you seen Jesus shine in your life recently?

  3. How can you look to the light of Jesus this week?

  4. Challenge: Every time you see a light in the darkness this week, say, “Jesus is the light.” Next week, we will see how many times everyone thought and said it!

Next week preview:

We will be off for Christmas break! We hope you enjoy this holiday season with loved ones, and we rejoice in the coming of our savior Jesus Christ. Lifeline will be back January 15th.
