February 14 - Middle School
What we’re learning this week:
It’s obvious that we are supposed to read the Bible, but what exactly do we do with it? When Jesus was preparing to go to the cross, He prayed for His disciples saying, “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” As we conclude our series about the Bible, we will dig into what Jesus’ prayer means for us today: That God’s truth is meant to be learned and lived.
Bottom Line: The Bible is the truth to be learned and lived.
Scripture: John 17:13-17
Small Group Discussion
Go over the key verse for the series (Same one from “the story of God” series!), discuss 1-3 of the small group questions, make a plan with your group to read the book of John this month and close in prayer – Consider having students pair up and pray for each other as they read the Bible this week.
Key Verse: All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 2 Timothy 3:16
1. How are you doing with reading through the book of John? Did anybody finish it?
2. What do you think would help you live differently after reading the Bible?
3. Tonight Luke used the image of “having your feet in two places” – explain what he meant and how that applies to our lives as we read the Bible.
4. Do you have any goals or desires for yourself in reading the Bible now that this series is over? Let’s share and help each other remember to read the Bible!
5. Who’s signing up for the short term group about prayer? SOUNDS AWESOME!
