What we’re learning this week:

This week at Lifeline our East Paris, Kentwood and Knapp Street campuses will each have a Lifeline student teaching. We are very excited for their peers to hear what God has put on their heart to share with them all and they have each been working hard over spring break to prepare for tonight. Each campus will have a different topic and scripture that students will be teaching from. At our Cascade Campus, we had the opportunity to hear from a student on April 19 and this week we’ll be hearing from a Lifeline staff member about the importance of prayer in our life.

If you missed the leader survey last week, please take a moment to fill that out here.

Discussion Questions:

If you have some other questions that come to mind as you’re listening to the teaching at your campus!

      • A. Prayer is not efficient

      • B. Prayer is weird

      • C. Prayer doesn’t work.

    • How often do you pray? How intentionally do you pray on a scale of 1-5 (5 being extremely thoughtful and intentional)

    • How does the challenge of praying on your knees three times a day sit with you? Who could you invite from your school to do this with you at lunch?

    • In your own words, what is the purpose of prayer?

    • If you were to define the type of prayer life you want in one word, what word would you choose?

    • Of the three areas mentioned: mindset, patience and prayer, which do you most need to focus on in your life?

    • Have you ever experienced disappointment that set you back in your faith?

    • What do you need to bring to God in prayer right now?

    • What is your mat? (What is the thing holding you back)

    • What is something you have given up hope that God will answer or heal?

    • What do you turn to first when times get hard?

    • In what ways are you going to turn to Christ? (Prayer, reading scripture, worship)

    • When you think about the idea that God gave us free will, how does that change the way you view suffering or brokenness in the world? Do you find it comforting, frustrating, or both?

    • Can you think of a time in your life where something hard eventually led to growth in some way? If you're comfortable, share what that looked like.
