October 21

What we’re learning this week:

This week we are looking at the two moments where Jesus provides Peter with a miraculous catch!

We are going to look at the way Peter responds in the two stories! I think after spending a few years with Jesus, Peter starts to learn about who Jesus really is, as his response is quite different! It’s our hope that the way Peter responds in the second story can be an encouragement for all believers, to run to Jesus!

Bottom Line: Jesus wants you to run to him!
Scripture: John 21:4-7

Small Group Discussion:

Use this time to help students see that Jesus meets them in their own “ordinary” (school, sports, home, etc.) and is asking them for their next yes too. Discuss 1-3 questions and end by sharing prayer requests and praying together

  • Have you ever formed a first impression of someone was a little bit off? What did you discover after spending time with them?

  • What would be a reason that someone might think that Jesus is upset with them, and would make them respond like Peter did in the first story?

  • Have you ever done something that made you think God was upset with you? Based on how Jesus treated Peter, how do you think God would actually respond to you?

  • Is there anything in your life you want to bring to the feet of Jesus tonight? Something we can pray for together as a group?

  • Did anyone decide tonight, to follow Jesus or recommit to following Him? (If any say yes, make sure they have a Bible)
