October 14

What we’re learning this week:

Tonight we looked at Peter’s denial of Jesus in Luke 22:54–62. Peter promised he would never deny Jesus, yet when he was afraid, he denied knowing Jesus three different times. When the rooster crowed and Jesus looked at Peter, Peter realized what he had done and wept bitterly.

Peter’s story reminds us that we all fail. We make promises we don’t keep, fall into the same sins, and sometimes try to hide our mistakes. But our story doesn’t have to end with failure. Jesus already knows our sin, and He meets us with grace, forgiveness, and love. Because of what Jesus did for us on the cross, we can bring our failures to Him instead of hiding them.

Bottom Line: There is nothing too big that can separate you from the love of God.
Scripture: Luke 22:54-62

Small Group Discussion:

Use this time to help students see that Jesus meets them in their own “ordinary” (school, sports, home, etc.) and is asking them for their next yes too. Discuss 1-3 questions and end by sharing prayer requests and praying together

  • Have you ever felt like you were failing in your faith? (like I'm not doing enough or I've messed up too many times)

  • What does it mean to you that there is a cost to our actions?

  • Who is a trusted person you feel like you can talk to when you mess up?

    • *If they don't have someone, make sure they know they can come to you.

  • What has been your understanding of confession? Is that something you participate in, or an area you want to grow in? (confession = agreeing with God)
