September 4 - Middle School

What we’re learning this week:

As we begin our year of focusing on the stories and teachings of Jesus, Luke is going to encourage our Lifeline students to not only recognize Jesus as a big deal in history, but to treat him as the main thing in their own lives by walking with him each day. Students will be challenged that when we commit ourselves to Jesus, he has the power to transform us from the inside out.

Bottom Line: Jesus is the main thing.
Scripture: Mark 1:4-8

Small Group Time:

It’s the first week back at Lifeline! We recognize that a lot of your time in small group may be making introductions, catching up, or just getting back into the swing of things. Remember that these early weeks of small group time sets the tone for the rest of the year!

Discuss 2-3 questions. Set a goal for reading Mark for the next week (How many chapters?). Share prayer requests and pray.

  • What is the most interesting thing you know about Jesus?

  • What do you think it means to walk with Jesus every day?

  • Have you ever witnessed Jesus change somebody else’s life? Share with the group!

  • Would you say that Jesus has changed your life? If yes, how so?

  • How many chapters of Mark do you want to commit to reading this week?

  • What can you do to remind yourself to follow through!

Next week preview:

Next week we will continue our series by walking through the scene where Jesus heals and forgives a paralytic in Mark 2:1-12. This scene will show our students that Jesus has the power and love to heal and forgive us and will begin to give them a glimpse of the tension between the religious rulers and Jesus throughout his ministry.
