September 8 - High School
What we’re learning this week:
As we begin this year of High School Lifeline, we are going to explore two big questions: Who is God and how can we get to know Him? As we explore Psalm 19, we will see that the journey of faith is an invitation to see God at work, know who He is through His Word, love Him personally, and follow His ways.
Bottom Line: God is the creator and ruler of the universe and He wants you to know Him.
Scripture: Psalm 19
Small Group Time:
Welcome back to Lifeline! I Tried to diversify with different types of small group practices and talking points! Read through each of these carefully and choose your own adventure! Make sure to close small groups by praying for each other!
On a scale of 1-5 (1=I don’t know if I believe in God / 5= I spend a lot of my time trying to give God my attention), how would you describe your attention to God right now? Explain!
Is there a practice, habit, or practical tip that has helped you get into the Bible? Share with the group!
Practice: What’s the most beautiful, captivating, or intentional thing you’ve seen in nature? Answer that question in the form of a prayer: “God, thank you for _____”
Luke described Psalm 19 as a description of the journey of faith… Seeing God / getting to know God / loving God / and committing to following His ways – does anyone want to share their faith story through those specific statements? (Leader: You can use this to share your own faith story too!)
Group challenge: What book of the Bible has helped you get to know God most? Let’s try reading it as a group!
Next week preview:
As we continue our Theology for Regular Folks series, we are going to walk through the story of Jesus: Who he is, what he did during his ministry, and how his death and resurrection can redefine our lives forever! Students will be asked to consider two questions: First, have you responded to Jesus? Second, do you live in the peace and joy of your salvation?
