The teenage years are not the easiest years to navigate. Now we have increased anxiety and depression like we have never experienced before in this generation. With social media use rising and coming out of the pandemic and acclimating to a new normal, teenagers are living in a world that is full of unexpected issues. If you would like some helpful tools to navigate stress and anxiety, we have collected some resources that we believe could help you and your teenager. Check out different ways to guide your teen in supportive ways through some challenging years!
The world we live in today is a world like none other. The innovation of smart phones and technology is always growing and has completely changed the way we live our lives and spend our time. This is true for us as adults, but it seems it’s totally changed the world teens live in.
With all of the tension on social media about race, you may be wondering, “How in the world do I talk to my child about this conversation?” You may have a different opinion than your child, you may have never had a conversation with them about what they hear and see, and you may not know where to begin.
Living in Michigan, I am sure most of us have encountered seasonal depression. In the winter, the sun disappears, and it becomes very easy to fall into a funk. Though we are now a year into this pandemic, many of us are still adapting to feelings of isolation.
Even though serving as a family can feel logistically complicated, we believe that it is worth it. Serving other people helps expose us to those who have different experiences than we do, it shows us that our life and efforts can make a difference in the world, and it reiterates the fact that our loving God has called us to partner with Him in bringing His Kingdom to Earth.
Parenting teens can include a lot of “firsts” when it comes to conversations about life, love, what it should look like, and what your student is going through during this time in their life. The world has a lot to say about sexuality and parenting through these years of “firsts” can be difficult.
