October 14

What we’re learning this week:

Tonight we looked at Peter’s denial of Jesus in Luke 22:54–62. Peter promised he would never deny Jesus, yet when he was afraid, he denied knowing Jesus three different times. When the rooster crowed and Jesus looked at Peter, Peter realized what he had done and wept bitterly.

Peter’s story reminds us that we all fail. We make promises we don’t keep, fall into the same sins, and sometimes try to hide our mistakes. But our story doesn’t have to end with failure. Jesus already knows our sin, and He meets us with grace, forgiveness, and love. Because of what Jesus did for us on the cross, we can bring our failures to Him instead of hiding them.

Bottom Line: There is nothing too big that can separate you from the love of God.
Scripture: Luke 22:54-62

Car ride home questions:

  1. Share with your student a personal experience of when you felt like you messed up and how you received God’s grace in those moments.

  2. Is there anything I can do to be more approachable to you when you feel like you mess up?
