April 30 - Middle School
What we’re learning this week:
Jesus is the Resurrection and Life! This week, we revisit the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead to learn what Jesus thought about death. In going through this important story of Jesus, students will learn that death has no power over Jesus and that death has no power over those who are in Christ.
Bottom Line: Death has no power over Jesus.
Scripture: John 11, Romans 10:9-10, Ephesians 2:4-5
Small Group Time:
With only TWO MORE small group times after tonight, remind your students to lock in and make the most of the time together!
Tonight we learned that death has no power over Jesus - do you think your faith journey has influenced how you see death? Why or why not?
Martha approached Jesus saying, “If you had been here, this would not have happened.” Is there anything that has happened in your life that has caused you to wonder that same thing? How did you navigate it?
How do you think Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection should impact your everyday life? Be specific!
If you’ve made a decision to follow Jesus: When did you make that decision? Tell your story!
If you haven’t decided to follow Jesus: What questions or situations do you feel have kept you from believing in Jesus?
Pair and pray! - have students share request with a partner and have them pray for each other.
Next week preview:
Jesus is the Bread of Life – In our final week of the series, observing a conversation between Jesus and some of his followers will prompt us to consider this question: Why do I follow Jesus? Taking an honest look at our motivations will set us up to pursue Jesus over the summer break for his own sake!
