February 16 - High School
What we’re learning this week:
As we begin our series addressing some of the big doubts and questions submitted by our students, we will explore five foundational truths to build on when processing this question: Is this even real? Whether students are skeptical or just looking for more solid footing, walking through scripture will lead each of us to a place where we are invited to trust more deeply in Jesus.
Bottom Line: You have good reason to trust in Jesus.
Scripture: We will be working through a number of texts; students will be given a handout with each of the passages cited in the sermon.
Small Group Time:
This week’s teaching challenges our students to ultimately leave behind skepticism and embrace Christ. Make sure to challenge students appropriately as they unpack this important content!
Which of the five foundational truths Luke walked through tonight seemed to be the one you need to embrace most right now? Explain.
What do you think is the strongest force leading you to doubt in your life? (Friends, intellectual questions, cultural norms, other)
Take a moment and look over your handout… are there any specific steps you need to take or ways of life you need to embrace as a result of tonight’s conversation?
Are you interested in baptism? Make sure to register to have a conversation about it at www.lifelinestudents.org/baptism
Next week preview:
There are the questions we ponder in our mind and then there are questions we feel with our soul… next week we will discuss the question, “How could God allow it?” In addressing pain and suffering, students will be reminded of God’s power, His empathy, and His ultimate plan to restore all things.
