February 19 - Middle School

What we’re learning this week:

Jesus came to seek and save the lost, reaching out to those whom society often rejects. In the story of Zacchaeus, we see that Jesus looks past reputations and offers friendship, leading to true transformation. As His followers, we are called to do the same, seeing the outcast and helping them encounter Him.

Bottom Line: His mission is our mission—to seek and save the lost
Scripture: Luke 19:1-10

Small Group Time:

Engage in discussion, make sure to talk about baptism and sign students up who are interested, and then pray together!

1.  Who is someone in your life that has a reputation (good or bad)? How do people treat them because of it?

2. Why do you think Zacchaeus wanted to see Jesus so badly?

3.  How did Jesus treat Zacchaeus differently than the crowd did? What does that teach us?

4. In the sermon, we talked about being like the tree (helping others see Jesus) instead of the crowd (blocking their view). What is one way you can be like the tree for someone?

Next week preview:

In week two of our Friend of Sinners series, we will explore the famous conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus in John 3. Through this, we will see that a relationship with God is not something we earn, but a gift of His grace. And from that grace, we are invited into true friendship with Him.
