February 5 - Middle School
What we’re learning this week:
As we conclude our series about living like Jesus, we will explore the question: What is God’s plan for the world? When Jesus was preparing to go to the cross, he spoke with his disciples and told them that he would send the Holy Spirit. The reality is, the Holy Spirit dwells in the believer to strengthen them and empower them to live the life God has called them to live. Students will be reminded that God desires to use their faith to bring His Kingdom to earth and lead others to Him. So what is God’s plan for the world? It’s His people living in the power of the Holy Spirit
Bottom Line: Your world needs to see authentic faith, and God chose you to show them.
Scripture: John 14:23-27; Acts 1:8
Small Group Time:
As we land the plane on the series, let’s get practical! Engage in discussion, make sure to talk about baptism and sign students up who are interested, and then pray together!
If you choose, pass around the student info sheet in your group that was discussed in leader training.
Is there anything new you learned tonight about the Holy Spirit? Share with the group!
On a scale of 1-5, how much would you say your faith in Jesus impacts how you live your life? (1=not at all; 5=all of it!)
Are there people you are close to who do not follow Jesus? What can you do to show them an example of authentic faith?
Does considering the fact that you’re God’s plan for the world hype you up or freak you out? Explain your answer!
Is anybody interested in signing up to discuss baptism with a Lifeline staff member? (Leader: go to lifelinestudents.org/baptism to sign up students for them!)
Pair students up and have them pray for each other: that they would be a positive witness for Jesus in their world.
Next week preview:
We begin a new series next week! It is called, Friend of Sinners! Who did Jesus spend time with? The unlikely, the outcast, and the overlooked. In our new series, Friend of Sinners, we’ll explore how Jesus’ radical love and grace invite everyone—no matter their past—into a life-changing relationship with Him. Join us as we discover the heart of the One who seeks and saves us.
