January 19 - High School
What we’re learning this week:
Alright, we know that January is already more than halfway done, but if statistics are true, most peoples’ attempts at reinventing themselves that began on January 1 have already failed and you may be ready for a fresh restart as well! During this teaching, we will look at the value of great friends and the detriment of close friendships that pull you off course!
Bottom Line: What you believe should influence your circle, because your circle influences what you believe.
Scripture: Proverbs 1:10-19, 12:26
Small Group Time:
The encouragement for this two-week series is simple: Make it intensely practical! For this conversation about friendships, take the lead from the questions below to ask, “What are you going to do about it?” in a variety of different ways.
Please utilize this time to make a plan for next week’s small group night!
As we begin the new year, are there any changes that you think need to be made in your inner circle of friends? Be specific.
Is there a “wise” person in your life who you want to intentionally include in your inner circle this year? Who is it and what can you do tonight or this week to be intentional in that friendship?
Is there a “foolish” person in your life who you need to graciously move to your “outer” circle? How can you love that person without allowing them to influence your life and beliefs?
Do you think we do a good job of influencing each other towards Christ as a small group? Is there anything missing in our group that would help us do that?
What do we want to do for the small group night next week? Is there anybody in your life that you want to invite as an easy on-ramp to being a part of the group?
Next week preview:
Next week is our small group night! Small group leaders will reach out to their students to make a plan on spending time together as a group. There will not be a formal Lifeline gathering!
