January 29 - Middle School
What we’re learning this week:
As a follower of Jesus, we often work really hard to exhibit things like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control; We know these are the very habits and practices that should mark our lives, but how do we get them? During this teaching, Luke will talk about how prioritizing the life, ministry, and your own living-breathing relationship with Jesus can lead to your life reflecting the things he cares about.
Bottom Line: The fruits of the Spirit grow from the roots of relationship.
Scripture: John 15:1-8; Galatians 5:22-23
Small Group Time:
A few quick reminders for tonight! 1) It's an invite night! Make sure to include any new students throughout your discussion. 2) We are presenting the Gospel tonight to give students an opportunity to respond! This will be staff-led, but be sure to follow up with any students who you notice raise their hand to respond to the Gospel! 3) Keep talking about the devotional guide! This will reinforce the importance of it!
First off, we have a couple new people in our group! Let’s have them introduce themselves! Share your name and favorite pizza place.
Tonight, Luke gave everyone the opportunity to follow Jesus for the first time. Would you say you’ve made that decision before? Did anyone make it tonight for the first time?
Based on tonight’s teaching, what do you think is your next step in becoming the person God wants you to be?
How has the guide we’ve been going through help you grow in your relationship with Jesus?
If someone in our group was just beginning their relationship with Jesus, what advice would you give them on growing closer to Him?
Next week preview:
What would happen if all Jesus’ followers earnestly committed themselves to living as he lived? Next week we will talk about Jesus’ hope for the world and what the world might look like if all of us commit to bringing Jesus’ kingdom to our sphere of society!
