March 19 - Middle School

What we’re learning this week:

What did Jesus say about ____? This is a common question! The good news is that Jesus taught his followers about a variety of different things! This week, each campus will get to hear from a staff member or volunteer as they unpack one of the teachings of Jesus from the Gospels!

Cascade Campus - Matt Rasey | Everyday Life According to Jesus

Bottom Line: Jesus can do a lot with a little.

Scripture:  Luke 2:41-52

East Paris Campus – Hannah LaJoye | The Enemy According to Jesus

Bottom Line: The enemy comes to steal from us, but Jesus comes to give us life.

Scripture: Matthew 4:1-11, Ephesians 6:13-18

Kentwood Campus – Callaway Grainer | Our Words According to Jesus

Bottom Line: What is at the heart of our words?

Scripture:  Matthew 5:21-24

Knapp Street Campus – Autumn Deboer | Trust According to Jesus

Bottom Line: Jesus is deserving of our full trust.

Scripture: Matthew 14:22-33

Small Group Time:

Small Group Discussion: Cascade

  1. How often is Jesus in your thoughts throughout the day?

  2. How much time in your day do you spend with Jesus?

  3. What specific part of your day works best for you to spend time with Jesus?

Small Group Discussion: East Paris

  1. How have you seen “the enemy” show up in your life?

  2. Have you ever memorized scripture passages? What is a good verse we can try to memorize as a group?

Small Group Discussion: Kentwood

  1. Why do you think Jesus takes insulting people so seriously?

  2. Take a minute to think about the way that you talk to the people closest to you. Do you think your words are helping or hurting those relationships?

Small Group Discussion: Knapp Street

  1. Share a story about a time someone broke your trust. (someone lied to you, didn’t keep a secret, embarrassed you in front of your friends, someone didn’t do something they said they would, etc.)

  2. How have you all been doing with reading your bibles? (Leaders, if they are struggling in this area: present them with a challenge to complete for the next week. Example: Read through all of Matthew 14 this week)

  3. What are your spring break plans?
