March 16 - High School
What we’re learning this week:
How do you grow as a follower of Jesus? How can I prioritize God instead of worldly things? How can I overcome temptation in my life? These are among the many questions that were asked when we surveyed students in January. During this series, we are going to get practical by showing students how their faithful pursuit of Jesus day by day can put them in position to live the life God has called them to live. This week, we’re talking about how the habits we say yes to and the habits we say no to eventually end up creating the road map to who we become.
Bottom Line: You could be one or two habits away from living into who God made you to be.
Scripture: Ephesians 4:21-32
Small Group Time:
In this conversation about habits, do your best to keep the conversation as practical and tangible as possible! The goal for this conversation is to guide students in identifying a habit that would help them in their walk with God or a habit that has distracted them from walking with God and then immediately transitioning to an action plan for either embracing the positive habit for the next week or eliminating the negative habit for the next week.
What habit, if you embraced it each day, would help you become more like the person God created you to be?
Is there a habit that is currently distracting you from living the life God is calling you to live?
If you had to choose to either consistently add the habit from question 1 or intentionally eliminate the habit from question 2 for the next seven days, which would have the greatest impact on your life?
Make a plan: How can you work together to follow through on committing to either embracing a good habit or eliminating the bad habit for the next seven days?
Next week preview:
Next week we will be having we will be wrapping up our “Day by Day” series. We are going to be reading Nehemiah and discussing what it looks like to be faithful to the work God calls us to do. What impact does that work have on God’s Kingdom?
