What we’re learning this week:
In life, there’s a lot you can’t control, but your mindset is something you can. Romans 8 teaches that your mind is always leading you somewhere: either toward the flesh or toward the Spirit and life. God’s goal isn’t just to change what you do, but who you become; to make you look more like Jesus. We want to help students begin to choose to fix their minds on Christ, letting His Spirit shape their thoughts, peace, and direction.
Bottom Line: You drift towards what you dwell on; so fix your mind on Christ
Scripture: Romans 8:5-6
Small Group Time:
What was your biggest takeaway from the teaching tonight?
What are some things in your life that feel out of control right now, and how do you usually respond to them?
Paul says our minds are either set on the flesh or the Spirit. What do you think it looks like to “set your mind” on the Spirit in your daily life?
How “good” are you at setting your mind on those things?
What’s one practical way you can “renew your mind” this week — something that helps you focus more on Jesus than on what’s temporary or stressful?
Next Week
We are off next week, because of Thanksgiving, however the week after that we will be diving into Romans 10:9-15. Within this passage Paul challenges believers, by asking how the world can know Jesus unless we tell them about who He is. We will challenge students to begin evangelizing to those around them or atleast consider what that would look like in their lives.
