What we’re learning this week:

Many people may feel a desire deep within them to change the world around them for the Gospel, but how do we actually do that in our everyday lives? This week, we explore the power of living as a follower of Christ in a world that goes its own way. Students will be reminded of the reality that their obedience to Christ and refusal to be influenced by culture can be their most powerful testimony!

Bottom Line: Your life change does not only change your life.
Scripture: Romans 12:12

Small Group Time:

As you talk about cultural influence and obedience to Jesus, the easy and not courageous thing to do would be to talk about the culture as a cop out for dealing honestly with the way your students are actually being influenced! Don’t let them skirt their own brokenness by talking about the brokenness of the world around them 😊

  • Which of these three cultural values do you think has influenced you the most?

    • A. Self-centeredness (I am at the center of my world and I should make decisions based on what makes me happy)

    • B. Sexual freedom (I can decide what I do with my body)

    • C. Cancel culture (I can ditch people or choose other friends if someone disappoints me or frustrates me)

  • What habit or practice do you think would make the biggest impact in influencing others towards Jesus with how you live your life?

  • Be specific, who is most influenced by the way you live your life?

  • What is one commitment you want to make after tonight’s conversation?

  • Pray for each other!
