November 20 - Middle School

What we’re learning this week:

Tonight we will be taking a look at the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead! We will unpack the story with a bit of context, in hopes to see the beauty of it! Jesus gives Lazarus life! We will then spend some time looking at how Jesus can give life to us as well. We will dig into the wages of sin, and see how we all are dead to sin! But, Jesus gives life! So we will answer the question: how do I receive that life? - You believe!

Bottom Line: Jesus has the power to give Life!
Scripture: John 11: 38-44

Small Group Time:

Small group time is your time to lead! Your students are coming from a variety of backgrounds and will need your leadership to guide them towards practical application of tonight’s conversation! If something isn’t really generating conversation, move on, adjust, and try to get to a point where the conversation intersects with their life today!

  1.  Do you have a recent/awesome story where you were shocked or surprised by something?

  2. Was there anything from tonight’s teaching or this series as a whole that shocked you? Did you learn something about Jesus that you haven’t known before?

  3. Have you heard before that the wages of sin are death? Does that seem fair?

  4. John 3:16 - “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life!” - Do you believe? If so, what does that mean for you? (help them articulate their faith)

  5. Did anyone accept the gift of Jesus for the first time tonight? (celebrate!)

Next week preview:

We are off next week for Thanksgiving! We hope you have a great week with your family reflecting on the many blessings God has given to us! Following Thanksgiving, we will have a two-week series about Christmas.
