November 6 - Middle School
What we’re learning this week:
This is week one of our series Blind, Sick, and Dead. Tonight, we will be looking at the story where Jesus restores Bartimaeus’ sight. We will be using the story to learn more about Jesus and also answer the question ‘How do I follow Jesus in my day to day life’. We will be looking at our spiritual blindness, as it seems to get in the way of us following Jesus in our day to day. Just as Jesus restored Bartimaeus’ blindness, Jesus can also restore our spiritual blindness! Ending with a list of ways students can follow Jesus in their day to day life. (spiritual practice to close)
Bottom Line: Jesus restores!
Scripture:Mark 10: 46-52
Small Group Time:
Small group time is your time to lead! Your students are coming from a variety of backgrounds and will need your leadership to guide them towards practical application of tonight’s conversation! If something isn’t really generating conversation, move on, adjust, and try to get to a point where the conversation intersects with their life today!
Is there one area of spiritual blindness that you struggle with? (unaware of God’s presence, resistance to truth/not able to recognize sin, or misplaced priorities.) If so, tell me about it!
Are there things from the list of ‘following Jesus daily’ that you do regularly? Share with the group how, and how you make it a priority.
Are there things from the list of ‘following Jesus daily’ that you don’t do? Why not?
How can we as a group encourage one another to invite Jesus into our days with more consistency? (daily ‘read your bible’ reminder text? Prayer requests in the group chat? Find a palace to serve with each other? Sharing your faith with others?)
Next week preview:
Next week we will be looking at the story of Jesus healing the Leper! We will see how Jesus interacts with people who are considered ‘unclean’! The rest of society kept these people at arm’s length, but Jesus embraced them with open arms!
