October 11 - Middle School

What we’re learning this week:

The Bible is a big book and can feel challenging to understand, but did you know it tells one story? During this series, we will look at each major scene of the story and, use the animal that represents that scene as a visual to show our students that they can understand the story of God!

As we conclude our series through the Bible, we will explore the exciting conclusion of the story of God: Jesus is victorious. Not only did Jesus prove His power over sin and death by rising from the dead, he also promises to come back and reign forever. The final scene of the Bible shows us that the love of God is stronger than death and that when Jesus reigns forever, he will set everything right.

Bottom Line: Jesus is victorious.

Scripture: Revelation 5:5, 11-13

Small Group Discussion

Series Key Verse: All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. 2 Timothy 3:16a

  • Highlight the key verse one last time!

  • Review time! You say the name of the animal and students try to remember what that scene was about! Here’s your cheat sheet!

    • Woodpecker: God is beautiful, powerful, infinitely wise and He decided to make you!

    • Snake: The enemy has a plan, but so does God! His plan: move towards us in our brokenness

    • Lamb: What do we do with our sin? Stop trying to manage what Jesus has erased

    • Pig: Don’t count out who God has invited in… including yourself!

    • Lion: Jesus is victorious and when He returns, He will set everything right.

  • During this series, The Story of God, which week/animal was the most impactful to you personally? Explain why.

  • Tonight we heard about how all of Heaven praised Jesus as being worthy. Why were they praising him? Is it important to also praise Jesus in a similar manner?

  • How can the promise from Revelation 21:4 - that Jesus will be victorious over these things - change the way we live our lives today?

  • What practical steps can we take to live in this victory and trust that Jesus will make everything right?

  • Reflective Question: Is there any fear, sadness, or sin in your life that you haven’t given over to Jesus? ***Use this as an opportunity for prayer and inviting your students to trust you as a person to come to with their problems***

  • Close your time in prayer
