October 6 - High School

What we’re learning this week:

As we conclude our Theology for Regular Folks series, this week’s discussion night is about the church. While it’s common to perceive the church as merely an event that you go to, God’s idea of the church is that it would be a family that His people are a part of. Students will be challenged and encouraged to fully engage in the family of God by seeing themselves as a key part of God’s kingdom here and now!

Bottom Line:  The church is not just an event, it’s a family built on Christ.
Scripture: Ephesians 2:19-22

Small Group Time:

Tonight is a discussion night! This means that the entire small group discussion will take place during the teaching. Here’s a preview of the questions we will be discussing as we go through the teaching material!

  1. Intro question

    1. If you could be a part of any fictional family, which family would you choose?

  2. Read and Discuss

    1. Read Ephesians 2:19-22

    2. If you were to make a list of “family values” for a church based on this scripture, what would that list consist of? (You’ll have an “in this family…” sheet that you can fill in your group's thoughts on.)

  3. Practical Discussion

    1. How do you participate in the church family right now? How can you further participate in the church family?

    2. Which one of the family values that we discussed in group or that were shared in the teaching do you think you need to grow in more individually?

    3. How can our group help each other participate in the life of the church family?

Next week preview:

Lifeline is not meeting next week because many of our high school students will have gone on high school retreat! Please pray for our students to encounter God and enjoy rest as a high school Lifeline community during this event!
