October 9 - Middle School
What we’re learning this week:
Tonight we will be looking at Mark’s account of Jesus calming the storm in order to understand who it is we pray to! This story shows us several characteristics about Christ that will aid our ability to trust him and give him control. We will cover how Jesus cares for us and whenever he is in control, the result is peace.
Bottom Line: The God who creates, who rules, who ordains, cares for you.
Scripture: Ephesians 2:19-2
Small Group Time:
Be sure to pray with your group after the Spiritual practice before you begin small group discussion.
What do you think it means to try to “control” something?
What are some of the many things Jesus is in control of?
What are some things in life that we have no control over?
Is it weird to think that Jesus led them into the storm?
What are some things in your life that have made things feel chaotic?
Is there anything we need to pray about that Jesus needs to take control of in your life?
Next week preview:
We begin our new series: Relationships According to Jesus. We will be looking at how Jesus defines and shows what love is. Students will be reminded that living into the love of Jesus instead of defining love by other means will lead to them having fulfilled and purposeful lives.
