September 25 - Middle School

What we’re learning this week:

In tonight’s teaching, we learn how prayer is more simple than we think. Prayer begins with the removal of our distractions. By looking at the story of Mary and Martha, we found three fundamental things about prayer: Place (being where Jesus is), Posture (open and listening), and Priority (first things first).

Bottom Line:  Prayer begins by removing distractions and giving our attention to the one who wants it most and can use it best.
Scripture: Luke 10:38-42

Small Group Time:

Allow time for your students to give you a “recap” of the teaching. Pick up on things they noticed and follow up with them on why. Make sure your students are seated and in a circle.

  1.  What was this teaching about?

  2.  What times in your day do you get bored and distract yourself?

  3.  How do you distract yourself?

  4.  Was the prayer practice hard or easy?

  5.  When I say the word “pray”, what do you usually think about? How was the teaching different?

  6. When can you do this during your day?

  7. Small Group Covenant Instructions – due tonight if you didn’t do it last week
