September 22 - High School

What we’re learning this week:

We are tackling two big theological topics: humanity and the Spirit. By looking at Romans 8 and the story of redemption in the Biblical narrative, we’ll determine why our human nature is the way that it is and how God redeems it. All humanity has a natural thirst for God, but we attempt to quench that thirst in the wrong ways: by following the desires of our “flesh”. The truth we will discover is how we were made to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to follow His desires.

Bottom Line: The Spirit of God transforms us.
Scripture: Romans 8:5-13

Small Group Time:

It would be very helpful, as a leader, to share a time in your life where you realized you needed to stop following a fleshly desire.

  1. What stuck out to you tonight? What do you remember?

  2. Have you ever had a moment where you could tell God wanted/didn’t want you to do something?

  3. Do you think life is difficult, easy, fine? How come?

  4. What does the Bible mean by “death” and “life”?

  5. What do you think we’re made for? Did you agree with the teaching?

Next week preview:

Next week Luke will be talking about the concept of eternity.
