September 11 - Middle School
What we’re learning this week:
We’re continuing to explore who Jesus is and how he impacts our everyday lives! As we walk through a scene where Jesus forgives and heals a paralytic man, our students will see that Jesus is capable of healing and forgiving us. Students will be challenged to open their hearts to Jesus and invite him into whatever they find themselves facing.
Bottom Line: Jesus is capable of healing and forgiving.
Scripture: Mark 2:1-12
Small Group Time:
Week TWO! Make sure to follow up about reading Mark and ask students what they have been noticing. If they forgot, encourage them not to give up. If students start the year by reading a gospel, that’s a big win!
What did you write down during the practice tonight? Share with the group!
Luke talked about bringing a friend next week to Lifeline – is there someone in your life who really needs Jesus or something like Lifeline?
Tonight was about Jesus being capable – have you ever prayed for something and it was very clear to you that Jesus answered your prayer in the ways you asked?
Have you ever prayed for something and Jesus didn’t answer your prayers in the way you asked? Why do you think that happened?
Are there people in your life who have influenced your relationship with Jesus just like the man had others who brought him to Jesus?
What do you think it means to be completely forgiven of your sin?
Next week preview:
Next week, we conclude our Walking With God series by walking through the death and resurrection of Jesus. We will explore the fact that the claims Jesus made about himself don’t give us an option to simply think he was a good teacher, but rather force us to decide if he is everything to us or not important at all. Next week, students will be invited to make a first-time decision to follow Jesus at the end of the teaching.
