September 13 - Middle School

What we’re learning this week:

The Bible is a big book and can feel challenging to understand, but did you know it tells one story? During this series, we will look at each major scene of the story and, use the animal that represents that scene as a visual to show our students that they can understand the story of God!

As we begin this series, we are going to explore the first chapter of the story of God: Creation. When we walk through the creation story, marvel at how wonderfully complex something as simple-seeming as a woodpecker really is, and consider the God behind it all, we will be even more blown away that WE are the wonder of God’s creation.

Bottom Line: God is beautiful, powerful, and infinitely wise; and He decided to make you.

Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:1, Genesis 1-2

Series Key Verse:

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives
2 Timothy 3:16a

Small Group Discussion

6th Grade Leaders: You will stay in the session space and staff/coach will lead you and your students through some discussion.

  • Review the key verse (we will look at this verse every week)

  • Discuss your group covenant (you will finalize this next week)

  • Choose one or two questions from below

  • Make a plan as a group for reading Genesis 1-2

  • Go over prayer requests & pray

  1. Have you ever read the Bible? What do you know about it? Share with the group!

  2. We covered a lot tonight! What is one thing that you want to remember?

  3. What is something in creation that you think is Beautiful? Powerful? Intricate?

  4. Have you ever heard that God knew you before you were born? How does that make you feel?

  5. When will you read Genesis 1-2 this week?
