As we begin our series about relationships and sexuality, we will look at the story of Joseph in the Old Testament. Joseph had hundreds of reasons to go his own way and sin against God. In walking through Joseph's background and the cultural norms of his day, students will be asked to consider the many reasons why they would have to go their own way. Students will be compelled to begin this series with a commitment to trust God and align themselves with His ways just like Joseph did.

As we conclude our Theology for Regular Folks series, this week’s discussion night is about the church. While it’s common to perceive the church as merely an event that you go to, God’s idea of the church is that it would be a family that His people are a part of. Students will be challenged and encouraged to fully engage in the family of God by seeing themselves as a key part of God’s kingdom here and now!

We are tackling two big theological topics: humanity and the Spirit. By looking at Romans 8 and the story of redemption in the Biblical narrative, we’ll determine why our human nature is the way that it is and how God redeems it. All humanity has a natural thirst for God, but we attempt to quench that thirst in the wrong ways: by following the desires of our “flesh”. The truth we will discover is how we were made to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to follow His desires.

As we begin this year of High School Lifeline, we are going to explore two big questions: Who is God and how can we get to know Him? As we explore Psalm 19, we will see that the journey of faith is an invitation to see God at work, know who He is through His Word, love Him personally, and follow His ways.

Summer Break

Lifeline is on summer break! We are so thankful for the amazing year and the time we had together. While we are off for the summer we still encourage students to scheduling something together so they can connect with their small group as those fun hangouts can create great memories and build relationships. Also in July we will have students and leaders serving internationally and locally on two Lifeline trips, so we ask for prayer over that time and the work that will be taking place!

As we continue our Bad Role Models series, we are going to look at the ways the religious leader mistreated a woman who they caught in adultery. The woman caught in sin was invited to repent of her sins by embracing the mercy of Jesus and the religious leaders were invited to repent by recognizing their own sin. In this powerful story, we are reminded that Jesus’ mercy transforms us to living the life we are called to live and pointing others to Jesus instead of counting them out on receiving the mercy Jesus desires to give them.

The Bible is full of valuable wisdom on love, relationships, and sexuality. The Bible is also full of real stories of broken people turning their backs on the very wisdom that we are called to live by. During this series, we are going to take an honest look at some of the poor choices made by people in the Bible in an effort to stay away from the same mistakes.
